This years celebration will be even bigger, brighter and bolder than ever with something for everyone to enjoy. From incredible street theatre to food and drink, Christmas craft markets o our famous parade.  Get out the house, meet up with your friends and bring your family along to Mossley’s biggest free festive event. (Parking will be very restricted in the town, usual parking spaces will be closed please arrive on foot or by public transport.)

 


Join us for the big switch on (7pm Mossley Market Ground) and help us count down to the illumination of the tree. Following an incredible parade finale and performances from local community groups a special guest will switch on Mossley’s Christmas lights with more pizzazz than ever before.

 

This year will see the introduction of some incredible street threatre performances home grown in Mossley.  Embrace the unusual with performances from Greenbanks Productions, Global Grooves and Cabasa Carnival Arts.  Performances include; The Grumpy Grandads, Bustle Sprouts, Airship Castaways, Tyrone the baby T-rex, The Green Monster Gilly Wagon, and Constance Winstanley.

 

Visit the The Mayor of Mossley Charities Craft fair and Christmas Market at the George Lawton Hall (4pm – 7pm) and our numerous craft stalls, rides and attractions on the Market ground. Box off your Christmas Shopping while supporting your local vendors.

Wander round the market ground and grab a selfie with one of our incredible illuminated installations. From shining elephants and flowers, to Chinese dragons, incredible willow animals to interactive fortunetelling fabulousness. #mossleylightfestival

The Tale of Two Giants. This year’s parade will be the best yet with an incredible mix of lanterns, music, dance and giants. Join us for our final lantern making session at The Vale on the 21st November and walk the streets of Mossley with our colossal Giants Alphin and Alder and the Majestic Rimmon. Our community stage will be running from 4pm – 7pm on Mossley Market ground and promises an incredible mix of local acts to take away your winter blues. Performers include DJ Gene Giles, St Johns Band, St Josephs School Choir, Mossley Ukulele Group, Good Vibrations, Alex Beswick, MAODS and Mossley Hollins Band.

 

 

What would a lights switch on be without Santa! Come and visit Jelly belly himself and whisper your Christmas wishes in his ear.

 

Enjoy great food and refreshing beverages from local food vendors throughout the festival. From burgers to mulled wine the choice is yours.
