The event will also help to raise funds for the next Mossley Light Festival later in the year – we look forward to seeing you there too!
Performances and workshops from some of the best local and Northwhest-based musicians, dancers, visual artists and street theatre performers.
Join our artists for a chance to make your own kite and fly it at the festival, get involved with the finale carnival performance or make music together. There will also be special kite-making workshops at The Vale before the festival. More details to be announced soon.

The Kyla Brox Band
With stunning soul vocals and mighty Blues grooves, the Kyla Brox Band will turn up the heat with their outstanding musicianship and charm.
Oldham’s very own youth-led percussion and dance group for 8-18s, featuring Brazilian drums, electric guitar, and Carnival street dance! Ask them how you can get involved.
The Sidiki Dembele Band
Lead by internationally renowned master drummer Sidiki Dembele this incredible West African ensemble will bring the very best of tribal beats, songs and dance to the Mossley Hills.
Tony Greenwood Big Band
Dust down those sequin dresses and get yourself ready for some glitz & glamour on the dance floor. Enjoy tripping the light fantastic to the wonderful sounds of The Tony Greenwood Big Band.
The Global Grooves Bloco
From just up the hill at The Vale, the Global Grooves Bloco will bring Brazilian drums, brass, dance, and sunny smiles to animate the Celebrate Festival.
We have brought together some fabulous street theatre and entertainment of Jurassic proportions. Our performers will be roaming the park throughout the day. You never know what you might bump into…
What’s that over there?
It can’t be…. Can it? Where’s my glasses? It’s a… AHHHHHHHHHHHH !
There will be frisking, possessions may be confiscated and people will get barred. The Gorgeous will be adored and the Undesirable dispatched without mercy. As self-appointed goddesses of style, they’re fickle, they’re foul and they don’t have an ounce of fashion sense between them. Make sure you are on your best behaviour!
Bee My Baby
Be aware, Bee My Baby are in town! A dancing troupe of happy bumble bees will be flying in to entertain crowds with their own unique style of buzzin’ dance!
The Great Garden Carnival
Featuring native butterfly people and toe-tapping percussion this is a street performance like no other.
The Five A Day Crew
The Five A Day Crew are here! Never before have you seen a carrot cancan, a banana boogie or a tomato twist like these guys can. It’s a nutritional party that just won’t stop… and they want to party with you.

Journey of the Orixas
Taking its inspiration from the deities of the Candomblé tradition, ‘Journey of the Orixas’ is a celebration of the positive aspects of cultural migration. The project pays homage and respect to the ancient and beautiful traditions of our African ancestors and to the many taken from their homelands as slaves to the new world.
Drop in to one of our exciting community sessions; try your hand at kite making, clown around in our circus workshops, enjoy a family show or join our carnival parade. There’s something for everyone.
Circus Sensible will be bringing their own unique brand of Comedy Circus. Daring-duo or sheer silliness? Be prepared to get involved!
Carnival music, dance and costume making
Join our carnival community and bang a drum, dance your heart out or make a carnival mask or headdress. Following a short workshop you will be invited to join our carnival finale in the park and show off your new found skills to your friends and family.
The Incredible Plastic Street Band
Tameside’s very own brass marching band for 5-12s bring us funky grooves and colourful instruments as they continue their quest for brass band stardom with a hands-on ‘Pbone’ workshop for all the family.

Get stuck into our kite making sessions with your friends and family and watch your kite soar around the summer skies.
Fabulous face painting
Sit down, relax and have your face painted so you can navigate the Celebrate Festival in style. Join in with our celebration vibe and put a smile on the face of all that see you. Young and old alike are welcome.
Mr. Silky Skills
Richard Braithwaite (aka ‘Mr Silky Skills’) is an international and award winning football free-styler who will be bringing his incredible skills to Mossley for one day only. If football is your bag then keep your eyes out for his incredible moves. You never know you may even get a quick lesson…
Food and refreshments from around the world will be available throughout the day from our hand picked selection of local vendors. From tasty cakes to Brazilian street food, the choice is yours.
